OSP: The Voice- Story 4

1) Theme: Entertainment (Music)
Title: 40 years of VP Records
"One of the world's most influential reggae labels unveils 94-track box set"
2)
3) Summary (inc. quotes)
  • To celebrate their 40th anniversary, VP Records — home to seminal British reggae label Greensleeves — is releasing a one-of-a-kind box set to commemorate the hits, rarities and history of the largest reggae label in the world.
  • "Featuring 94 tracks from 101 Greensleeves and VP artists, Down In Jamaica: 40 Years of VP Records tells the sonic history of this pioneering label."
  • "The strictly limited 2000-edition box set contains four 12” singles, four CDs, and four 7” singles, including the first reissue of some of the most collectible vinyl records in the VP catalogue such as Junior Reid’s “What Do You Know” and Tenor Saw’s “Lots of Sign”."
  •  Founded in 1970s and named after its owners
4) How or why this story appeals to an audience:
  • Personal identity-peope can realte to the albums and feel the emotion the record company is feeling as they have been on the same journey.
  • Personal relationships- creates a bond
  • Nostalgia- people can 'travel' back in time.
5) This reflects the values and ideologies of The Voice as they are talking about a black people record company and artists/music style they will relate to- life so relates with its ethos.
I wouldn't say this is quality journalism because it is quite amateur and may be written to gain attention (clickbait) and it just wants to be trendy and part of the zeitgeist.
