2) The Dolan Twins

3) Summary (inc. quotes)

  • Written by Lauren Rearick in October 2019
  • About the Dolan twins announcing that they won't be posting weekly videos
  • Inspired by their father's reacent death- "Had we not been filming a video every week, we would have been able to spend more time with our family around the time that they needed us,"
  • Lead to mental health problems as they didn't have enough time to grief
  • "If we have the proper amount of time, we can create something that we really love that our viewers will love as well,"
  • They are "proritizing mental health"
4) How or why this story appeals to an audience:
  • Audience pleasure: younger people feel included in important issues such as mental health, also makes them more aware.
  • Personal identity: other people who are going through the same problem can relate, makes them feel inclusive.
  • Personal relationships: creates a bond with everyone who experiences the same issue.
  • Surveillence: being able to relate and learn about mental health
5) This story reflects them values and ideologies of Teen Vogue as it tackles a sensitive issue, mental health and makes readers aware that it's a common problem and that it's normal to go through so you aren't alone.- they want to "push the boundaries" so they make everyone/all types feel inclusive.

I would say that this is quality journalism, not clickbait. This is because you can see that Teen Vogue value sensitive topics like mental health and just want their readers to know that they aren't alone and that they can talk to people.  As mentioned before, they see themselves as "a movement", so they are liberal in talking about sensitive issues.
